Join Cambridge's largest student society today for the opportunity to see world-class speakers and debaters as well as many other member benefits. The Union has a huge amount to offer, so make sure you don't miss out. Life, Annual, and Access Memberships are open to all students (both past and present) and current staff of the University of Cambridge, the Judge Business School, BPP Law School (Cambridge) and Anglia Ruskin University. Online membership (UNAVAILABLE AT THIS TIME) is ordinarily available for all institutions outside this group.
Types of Membership - note that membership cannot and will not be refunded.
Life Membership offers all membership rights during your time in Cambridge and after graduation.
Annual Membership offers membership for a year, but you are not eligible to run in society elections. During the year, you have the option to upgrade to lifetime membership by paying the difference. This opportunity expires at the end of your year. Annual members are NOT eligible for a freshers' ball ticket.
Access Membership Access membership offers you all the same perks as life membership but at a discount. Any undergraduate student in receipt of a Cambridge University Bursary or Anglia Ruskin University Bursary is eligible to apply for access membership. Within our Access membership, we offer three tiers of discount which are household income dependent. Please see our eligibility criteria below:
Full Discount - £115 for Life Membership. Available to any student whose household income is below £25,000.
2/3 Discount - £135 for Life Membership. Available to any student whose household income is between £25,001 and £33,750.
1/3 Discount - £155 for Life Membership. Available to any student whose household income is between £33,751 and £42,620.
Please note that we will require proof of eligibility before issuing Access Membership . As proof we accept either a) a letter of entitlement from the University of Cambridge or Anglia Ruskin University stating the value of your Bursary, or b) a letter of entitlement from Student Finance England stating the value of your Maintenance Loan.
We will review the relevant documents when you come to collect your membership card. You may then be asked to pay the difference in person, depending on whether or not you fall into the two higher income brackets (£135, £155).
Because maintenance loans for postgraduate students are not means tested, we cannot assess the eligibility of postgraduates for our bursary scheme. For this reason, we are unable to extend our bursary scheme to postgraduate students at present.
If you have any questions please email our officers at email@example.com. Note: If you think you may be eligible for access membership DO NOT join as a life member - refunds cannot be given.
